The State Science Grants Competition


The State Science Grants Competition (SSGC) represents one of the key mechanisms for effective implementation of science reform. SSGC objectives are to expose and strengthen Georgia scientific potential through sponsoring scientific projects selected as the result of publicly announced competition and on the basis of independent expertise.

Administration of the State Science Grants is provided by the Georgia National Science Foundation (National Science Foundation hereinafter).

The Georgia National Science Foundation provides general management of the SSGC that includes:

  • Elaboration of terms for competition and announcing competitions;

  • Holding consultative seminars for providing guidance in the Project preparation and for explicating the Competition Terms;

  • Organizing Project evaluation issues;

  • Selecting the Projects to be sponsored on the basis of the peer-review evaluation provided by the experts and submitting them to the Scientific Board of the GNSF (Scientific Board hereinafter) for approval.
