16.03.10. State Grants for Young Scientists to work on probation in Foreign Countries will be funded from the State Budget


Young Scientists have opportunity to work on probation in leading universities and scientific institutes in different scientific areas: Engineering Sciences, Physics and Astronomy, Chemistry, Earth Sciences, Mathematics, Mechanics and Information Technologies, Agricultural Sciences, Life and Medical Sciences.


The competition is funded through the state budget and the call "State Grants for Young Scientists to work on probation in Foreign Countries" is administered by the Georgia National Science Foundation. 


In the frame of the grant the following expenses will be covered: international travel, insurance, visa, internal transportation and meals. 


The young scientists eligible to participate must be Georgian citizens and must satisfy the following requirements:


  • Must be fluent in English or the official language of the country of probation;
  • Must have doctor's degree or should be doctoral student of closing course;
  • The age of grant's seekers should not exceed 40 years.


The competition will be held annually. In 2009, the Georgia National Science Foundation funded three young scientists with total budget 27 000 GEL. The young Scientists have probated in USA, Germany and Spain.


This year 150 000 GEL has been allocated for the program.
