30.06.10. 18th Meeting of the Science Board of the GNSF was held at the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia

Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Nodar Surguladze officially presented to the GNSF Science Board Members the Presidential Order №428 about the liquidation of the foundation that should be implemented by 1 August 2010.

At the meeting, Science Board approved the results of the 2010 call “Grants for young Scientists for Internships abroad”.

 It was also mentioned that it would be reasonable if the necessary procedures concerning the results approval will be implemented by newly established Rustaveli National Science Foundation, as 16 more scientists could have an opportunity to make internships abroad.

The board was also informed about the suspension of the following calls:

  • Short-Term Individual Travel Grants;
  • Scientific-popular lectures in Public Schools
  • New pilot Call in the frame of popularization program “participation of secondary school students in research”

The Board found it expedient that Rustaveli National Science Foundation would discuss all the necessary issues concerning the administration of the calls after its establishment.

The sub-program – “Georgian students’ participation in International Olympiads” will be transferred to the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia.

According to Nodar Surguladze’s announcement, the functions and responsibilities of the Science Board within new foundation are planned to be extended.

The Director of the Foundation Mariam Gersamia thanked the members of Science Board for fruitful work and cooperation.
